Single
Mothers Guide
Being a single
mother can be
very hard, if
you are pregnant
and are
expecting to be
a single mother
there are quite
a few things you
are going to
have to
consider. While
you may be
feeling weighed
down right now
you should bear
in mind you
don’t have to
make all of
these decisions
right now but
you should keep
them in mind
because you are
going to have to
deal with them
at some point in
time.
The first
question you are
going to have to
ask yourself is
if your child’s
father is going
to be involved
with your
child’s life.
You are going to
have to make
sure you don’t
answer this
question for
him; it is
something he has
to deal with on
his own. If your
child’s father
does want to be
a part of your
child’s life
then you may
want to take
part in a
parenting class
together.
Depending on
what role your
child’s father
is going to take
in your child’s
life you will
have to
determine which
last name your
child is going
to have.
Raising a child
is an expensive
endeavor
especially for
single mothers,
raising a baby
is pricey. You
are going to
have to go over
your finances
and determine
how much a new
baby is going to
cost you and if
you can afford
it or not. If
you cannot
afford to raise
a child then you
are going to
have to make
some changes
such as your
job, if you will
have to
relocate, or
reducing your
monthly
expenses.
If you are going
to be a single
mother filing
for child
support is
something you
should consider.
Keep in mind you
don’t have to
file for child
support as soon
as your baby is
born, you can
file at any
time.
Most likely you
are going to
have to make
some lifestyle
changes after
your baby is
born and as a
single mother
this is
particularly
harder. If your
current income
can’t support
another person
then you may
have to find
yourself another
better paying
job, or find a
way to reduce
your expenses.
Most women also
have health
conscious
choices they
have to consider
before giving
birth to a baby,
like giving up
smoking,
drinking, and
eating healthy.
Being a single
mother can be
hard and you may
find it quite a
bit easier if
you have a good
support network
in place to help
you. A support
network can be
anyone from
family to
friends that
will help you
when you need
personal
support, a
shoulder to cry
on, a
babysitter, or
just someone to
talk to.
Being a single
mother has a lot
of challenges
but it can be
done. |
