Naming Your
Newborn Baby
Some parents
find that coming
up with baby
names is one of
the hardest
things to do
during the
entire
pregnancy. The
name you give
your baby will
be something
that you will
have to live
with for the
rest of your and
so will the
baby, so you can
probably see why
this is
something
parents take
pretty
seriously. With
that in mind
here are a few
do’s and don’ts
when it comes to
naming your
newborn baby.
One thing you
should probably
consider when
naming your baby
is the flow of
the name. Is the
name easily
pronounced?
Tabitha Weiss is
a little hard to
say but Rachel
Weiss is a fair
bit easier.
Does the name
you have chosen
conjure any bad
memories for you
or your partner?
Is it the same
name as an
ex-lover or
someone you
hated in high
school? I’m sure
the number of
people naming
their sons
Adolph has
severely dropped
since the 1940s.
Be aware of all
of the possible
nicknames that
may come with
the name you
have chosen for
your baby. How
would you feel
about everyone
calling your son
Joey instead of
Joseph, or Jonny
instead of
Jonathan, Ben
for Benjamin,
ect.
You should also
consider
avoiding giving
the father’s
name to the son.
Having a Junior
running around
the house can be
confusing as
well as annoying
and may lead to
problems when
Junior gets a
little older.
Always choose
baby names for
both genders.
Despite what
previous
ultrasounds may
have told you it
is possible for
the machine to
be wrong and you
don’t want to be
caught off guard
without a baby
name lined up. |
