Homemade Baby Food

Homemade Baby Food

Many mothers do not realize that making their own baby food at home is an easy and cheap way to give your newborn baby the best quality, most healthy and best tasting baby food around. Homemade baby food has several different benefits, such as the improved nutritional value, removal of additives, variety, and it is cheaper then buying pre-made baby food.

Important nutrients and vitamins are central to a healthy diet for your baby. In order for your newborn baby to develop properly over the next few years a healthy diet will be important. Baby foods on the market today have been processed to kill bacteria so they can be stored at room temperature in the supermarket, which is good, but it also kills many of the nutrients in the food. On top of that baby food manufactures also add many different additives, preservatives, chemicals, pesticides, herbicides, and fungicides which aren’t naturally found in the foods a baby should eat.

If you choose to make your own homemade baby food you have total control over what goes in it, which is a good way of eliminating the chemicals that are typically found in store bought baby foods.

Making homemade baby food is also a good way of adding variety to your newborn baby’s diet. The baby foods that are sold at the grocery store are developed for the mass market which tends to eliminate the variety of different foods. If you make your own baby food at home then your babies menu is only limited by your own creativity, not a big corporations.

Another drawback to buying processed baby food is the cost. Processed baby food is expensive. During your newborn baby’s first year he or she will go through at least six hundred jars of processed baby food, which would probably total somewhere around $400. On average, a year’s supply of homemade baby food will cost you around $60.

So with all of these benefits of homemade baby food you must be thinking there is some kind of a catch, right? It must be very hard to make and time consuming, right? Wrong, double wrong. Homemade baby food is very easy and quick to make, you can spend about 30 minutes every two weeks making homemade baby food and you will have more then enough for your baby. It is as easy as cooking the food, pureeing it, and freezing it.
